Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday announced that starting this year, December 26 will be celebrated as “Veer Bal Diwas” as the tribute to the four sons of 10th Sikh Guru Gobind Singh, who were killed by the Mughals.
Modi’s announcement came on the day of the birth anniversary of the Sikh Guru.
It is a fitting tribute to the courage of “Sahibzade” and his quest for justice, he tweeted.
He said, Veer Bal Diwas will happen on the same day Sahibzada Zorawar Singh ji and Sahibzada Fateh Singh ji got martyrdom by sealing alive in a wall. Bothe these great man preferred death rather than deviate from the noble principles of religion.
“The bravery and ideals of Mata Gujri, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and 4 Sahibzadas give strength to millions. He never bowed before injustice. He envisioned a world that was inclusive and harmonious. The need of the hour is more and more people to know about them.”
The Modi government is taking a slew of measures to reach out to the Sikhs, a community that was seen as angry with the rulling BJP after the implementation of three agrarian reform laws.
