Journalist Kamal Khan passes away

In a tragic development, award winning veteran journalist Kamal Khan succumbed to a heart attack on Friday at his residence in Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh). He was 61.  Khan was associated with NDTV for over 30 years and was serving on the post of executive editor. . He is survived by his journalist wife Ruchi and son Aman .

He was a recipient of the prestigious Ramnath Goenka Award in 2010 and Ganesh Shanker Vidyarthi award from President of India .

NDTV condoles Journalist Kamal Khan

In an email NDTV said it was a terrible terrible loss for NDTV after the passing away of journalist Kamal Khan. The email added. “We have lost Kamal Khan. He was 61 and the heart and soul of our Lucknow bureau. An NDTV veteran who had boundless time and kind words for anyone who encountered him.”

NDTV further said, “Kamal’s reportage over the last decades stood out for its perceptiveness, integrity, and the way he delivered the truths with poetic dexterity. Most of all, he was a wonderful human being, who touched the lives of all those who knew him. Sharing this with profound grief, shock and numbness .@kamalkhan-NDTV sir. Our long standing lucknow bureau chief, rock solid journalist, someone we all looked up to for his hard hitting yet poetic report, passed away this morning.”

Media fraternity mourns Kamal Khan’s death

Several members of the media fraternity and politicians paid tribute to Journalist Kamal Khan. Journalist Rajdeep Sardesai said terribly sad news to report this morning. “Kamal Khan NDTV’s fine reporter from lucknow and a dear dear friend of mine passed away this morning. I will miss dearly my friend and our long chats. Lots of memories. DEVASTED.”

Congress leader and former journalist Supriya Shrinate expressed her grief and offered her condolences. She tweeted ‘shocked to hear about the sudden demise . Rock a great journalist , a great human being .
